About Lila Hood, known as “THE BLUE VIOLIN”….

Lila Hood is a Master Teaching Artist and one of the amazing faculty members on our MWROC team.  An advocate for playing all styles of music, she is an award-winning classically trained violinist and pianist with over 25 years of orchestral, industry, and instructional experience.  After playing for many years on a 6-string electric violin, Lila chose her custom-designed 5-string fretted blue Viper to introduce the instrument for the first time into the R&B, Soul, & Hip Hop genres. Her blue violin has become signature to who she is and serves to motivate people from all walks of life to play!

Lila’s musical experiences range from receiving quartet coaching from Maestro Isaac Stern and performing at Carnegie Hall with Maestros Alexander Schneider and Jaime Laredo to being a featured performer at the Jamaica Ocho-Rios International Jazz Festival and performing shows throughout the country. She fuses multiple genres together and lives by the mantra that “Music is music” as she loves to play ALL styles.

With her expanding brand, Blue Violin Classes, she is creating innovative lessons and workshops for young artists everywhere, with a focus on underserved communities to nurture and help young talent thrive.
