Orchestra Placements (6-22-19)

FOR ZEPPELIN ORCHESTRA PEOPLE ONLY: Due to our large numbers this year, Zeppelin will be split into 2 groups: Zeppelin 1 and Zeppelin A. People who are placed in Zeppelin will have until Tuesday, June 25th at 12:00pm EST to choose which one you’d like to be in; after which, we will choose for you. First come, first served! When we reach maximum quota for any instrument, you’ll be moved to the alternate Zeppelin orchestra. Once Zep assignments are made, there will be no changes.

THE MUSIC!

VERY IMPORTANT – READ THIS:  Music provided below is SOLELY FOR YOUR PERSONAL USE in conjunction with MWROC Music Festival (aka Mark Wood Rock Orchestra Camp, Inc.) and is not to be duplicated, distributed, or performed outside of MWROC.

SUGGESTIONS WHILE PRACTICING:

  1. Practice tapping your foot while playing the music.
  2. Incorporate a metronome or drum loop into all your practice sessions at home.
  3. Practice ONLY to the audio file. Do not practice without the audio unless you need to slow down your part.
  4. Instrumentalists: Check your tuning frequently – strings tend to stretch often during practice sessions.
  5. Singers: Always warm up before singing and try to be awake for 2-3 hours before singing full-voice.
  6. Record and film yourself during practice sessions so you can critique yourself as an objective listener for rhythm accuracy and intonation.

VIOLINISTS: At MWROC, there is not a traditional “Violin 1 or 2 part”. You have been assigned LEFT or RIGHT. Mark has written the violin parts so they are equal. Print and learn your ASSIGNED part.

Notes lower than your instrument range:
You may find some notes in your part lower than your lowest string. That is because at MWROC many of our participants have 5 or more strings on their instrument and their range is extended. If you find a note that is too low simply play it an octave higher.

SINGERS: On the lyric sheets, everything in bold is what the choir will sing. All songs have soloist opportunities. If you’re interested in being a soloist, use your ears and listen to the recordings so you can learn the melody lines exactly!

All singers who registered with VOCALS AS A PRIMARY INSTRUMENT will sing on ALL the songs. Because of our large numbers this year, there are limited solo opportunities but we’ll do our best to accommodate as many of you as we can!
